Italy, an Amphibious Country
Institutional and geopolitical session
The balance between European and Mediterranean Italy is becoming increasingly difficult. The amphibious nature of our country, which we have considered a strategic advantage since Unification, is now proving to be a critical factor as both environments in which Italy moves, Europe and the Mediterranean, require more resources, more attention and more political capital. What happens in one of the environments immediately impacts the other, with a multiplier effect on maritime traffic. All this in a scenario that will be increasingly dangerous and that (re)discovers Cold War supply-chain solutions before which Italy risks finding itself totally unprepared.
